Skinny Jeans Approved Desserts (Recipes)

The two biggest “challenges” my clients often face when they are trying to stick to a plan to get lean, as far as nutrition goes, are alcohol and sweets. Sometimes one or the other, sometimes both.

That’s why during the last Skinny Jeans Transformation Challenge, I challenged the teams to come up with healthy desserts under 200 calories per serving that were made up of a majority of whole foods (meaning minimal processing), contained at least one “super-food” and tasted good enough to satisfy the urge to grab a jumbo cookie, brownie or bowl of ice-cream (you do get those too right? It’s not just me?…..).

Well they came up with 3 and I’m finally sharing them with you today (Hint: The ice pops are PERFECT for these hot summer days). [Read more…]

Coffee Lovers Delight! (Recipe)

great coffee recipe at Booty Boot CampStarbucks, Pete’s, heck even McDonalds all have a blended Iced Coffee drink. And as hot as it’s been, I know you might have gotten a little tempted to indulge in one. Or even if ordering one of those calorie filled concoctions is not an option for you, you have to admit, it does look pretty tasty and the partakers look pretty happy with their purchase……until they go to get into their skinny jeans or their halter tops springs up like a roll-up shade. Even now that you can customize them at certain places and make them “lighter” they still aren’t really a good fit for you and the goals that YOU have, right? Right.

But you do not have to go the rest of your life without ever experiencing the joys of blended coffee. I have a frozen coffee delight that does fit right into your “get leaner” plan and it’s delicious. You could even have it for breakfast guilt free. The recipe is below. Blend one up and enjoy.

Iced Raspberry Mocha!

Brew one cup of coffee (I used Hazelnut, regular is fine, as is decaf),

add 4 ice cubes

1 3/4 scoop Prograde Lean Chocolate Flavor Meal Replacement

2 tbsp. pecans (or almonds)

1/4 c frozen raspberries.

Blend.  Enjoy!

But some of you have asked me why I can eat so much and still lose weight and the answer is; [Read more…]

Guilt Free Coffee (2 recipes)

Have you seen it yet?

As of January 1st all restaurants are required to post the caloric content of all their menu items right on the main menu boards. No more hiding them in a pamphlet that you had to ask for and that they never seemed to have. No more telling you to go online to see nutrition data. Now it’s right there, right in your face. And this includes everyone guilty pleasure –Starbucks.

coffee

I was in line there the other day and there was a long line as usual. The girl in front of me was dutifully studying the new data while we waited, when it was her turn do you know what she ordered after waiting in line for well over 5 minutes? WATER! She said after seeing all those calories “I can’t bring myself to order anything. I’ll just take this bottled water”. I guarantee you, that’s a girl who is going to stay in her skinny jeans.

And while I believe in the 90/10 rule of eating clean and “cheating” most of us enjoy having coffee everyday (or almost everyday), so today I have a recipe for you that is a healthy recipe alternative for a normally sinful vice many of us have these days…  gourmet coffee drinks!

Eat Pancakes -Boost Your Metabolism

The last two weeks I’ve been talking to you about avoiding the end of the year weight gain but let’s get serious for a moment. You’re going to eat a LOT of food this Thursday. You know it. I know it. And that’s ok. I’m sure you’ve been working out just a little bit harder to prepare for it, right? 😉 And I know you’re going to get a good workout in on Thursday before you chow down, right?

Now, besides that, I also want to remind you one thing you do NOT want to do on Thursday is skip meals so you can stuff yourself with one big one. That’s a no-no.

You still need to start your day right by boosting your metabolism with a solid breakfast. So to help you out with that I’ve got a gift for you from me and my buddies over at Prograde Nutrition. It’s a delicious Protein Pancakes recipe.

Thanks to the protein in the recipe your blood sugar won’t go crazy like it can just by eating a huge stack of pancakes with sugary syrup. Nope, this recipe will fill you up, nourish your body and give your metabolism just the boost it needs.

Be sure to let me know how you like it.

2 c. whole wheat flour
1 scoop Prograde Protein
3 tsp. baking powder
2 1/2 c. skim milk
3 egg whites
1/4 c. oil
2 tbsp. wheat germ
2 tbsp. cornmeal
4 tbsp. bran

Heat skillet or griddle to 375 degrees. In large bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix until large lumps disappear.  Pour about 1/4 cup batter into hot skillet. Turn pancakes when edges look cooked and bubbles begin break on surface.
