The Secret Of Spot Reducing

You’ve heard of “pear shape” “apple shape” etc. These refer to where a persons bodies stores the most fat.

About 99% of the time when I meet someone for a 1-on-1 Success Session they tell me that they need to work on one spot in particular; usually their belly, thighs, or arms. They want to hit there trouble spot hard to make it shrink.

No wonder, magazines and social media will have you believe that in order to get a flat belly you need to work those abs. Or to get a nice butt you simply have to squat and lunge more.

No don’t get me wrong squats and lunges WILL give you a nice butt. And planks, burpees and leg raises contribute to a nice midsection but not in the way you think.

All of those moves add ‘shape’ to your body. They are what take you from a flat rear end to a shapely one. Ab moves will develop your abdominal muscles so that they can pop (think 4-pack or even 6-pack)

But that is what is happening underneath.

The stuff on top, the stuff that wiggles and jiggles…that is fat.

To get that off of your body you need the ultimate trifecta of a plan:

Strength training and clean diet and the right kind and amount of cardio (if you like cardio).

This will force your bodies to burn fat all over your entire body.

I agree it would be GRAND to be able to bust out some crunches and have washboard abs.

But it just doesn’t work that way.

This is one of those rare ‘all or nothing’ scenarios: You either burn fat over your entire body, or you don’t burn fat at all.

I’ll say it again and I’ll keep on saying it: crunches DO NOT burn belly fat. Squats do not reduce “secretary spread”. You have to shrink your fat cells all over your body.

Now one way to give your efforts a HUGE boost is by progressive, heavy resistance training like we do in Beast Mode Squad. Doing full body resistance based workouts builds muscle.
Muscle burns more calories than fat. So the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn while working out, walking your dog or watching TV.

That is what will give you an overall lean look. Not crunches and bodyweight squats. It sounds boring, and I’m not going to lie, its hard work. But that is exactly why most people don’t do.

But I have the feeling that you are ready for a challenge and ready for change.

To burn fat and get shapely you need to move big weights, focus on large muscle groups and eat clean. You don’t even HAVE to do traditional cardio if you don’t want to.
