So this may sound weird to you but if you come to my house and into my office the first thing you will almost always notice is a bikini clad girl on my two computer monitors (the two above have been recent pin-ups). My husband objects that people are going to walk in and think it’s him with the pin-up girls and that I should take them down (since his “protest” last a whopping 5 seconds, I don’t think he really minds).
I don’t compare myself to these girls or beat myself up about not looking like them. I use these bikini girls as a form of visual motivation. A way to spark me to get my butt in gear and get a workout in if I’ve become glued to my work or to go drink a glass of water or eat my next meal so that I stay on track with my eating plan.
You’ll probably agree that we are all usually super pumped about a new weight loss/fitness plan during the first 5-10 days. But as the saying goes “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and neither are our bodies. Figuring out a way to keep the fire burning so you can stick with your plan past that initial rush is one of the KEYS to finally getting over the hump of losing the same 5-8lbs over and over again and making some real progress.
There are lots’ of ways to motivate yourself to keep going. In fact, here is a short list of just some of the things you can use to motivate you:
Pictures –This can be people, vacation destinations, clothes.
Movies – If you get a sort of rush and good happy feeling when watching this movie, it’ll work. It does not have to be sports related. If it make YOU feel good, use it!
Music –Those songs that you have to stop everything for, crank up and get totally into for the next 3-5 minutes, those are the ones you should keep in a playlist and use as needed to get you moving or keep you moving if you’re not in the workout mood.
Music videos –These are like movies and music combined for a double whammy dose of motivation. I LOVE most anything by Beyonce.
Quotes – There is one to fit every mood. Create a word doc and put your favorites there. When you need to, pull it up and read away.
Magazines –Fitness, fashion, destination…as with all motivation it’s subjective. If YOU get a little tingle when you flip through it, use it! (I love Oxygen and inStyle)
In my 6 week total body transformation (the one I did the beta test on a few months ago) I teach my clients exactly how to find and use the things that motivate them the best to stick with their plan. Then I am there EVERY DAY to remind them to use them and to provide my own form of motivation to them as well.
That program I keep mentioning, it’s now called Fit & Fueled and It’s taken me over 3 months to further tweak, refine and streamline this program to get you the best results in 42 short days.
I’m taking on 10 new clients starting tomorrow and the program begins on Sunday October 3rd. If you’d like me to come to your home and personally get you started on the right track (did you see the kitchen purge video? (What’s in your kitchen? and if you’d like to get results like Shawna’s (did you see this transformation?) then go this link tomorrow morning I’m Ready to make the change!
Stay motivated!
