For years my husband has called me a picky eater.
I’ll admit I always strongly disagreed.
So one day after he said that to me I asked him why.
He said because everything I eat has to be “gourmet”.
Now by gourmet he meant that on the rare occasions when I would allow a treat I would never just eat a McDonald’s cheeseburger or some preservative packed bakery concoction from the mini mart.
No, I had to go to a well known burger joint in our town or to my favorite restaurant or ice cream shop to indulge
In other words, I was picky!
I have always reasoned that I work hard to be healthy and fit and if I am going to indulge in a treat, it is going to be a high quality food that I truly enjoy.
So after coming to that realization I started to observe people around me and listen to my clients. I often heard stories of how they got some junk out of a vending machine, or ate some pre-packed dried out cookie and I would think, if you are going to indulge in a food that might set you back in your fat loss quest even by a day, why would you eat THAT?!
In my past experience I found that when I did indulge in some cheap thrill it only left me still craving the treat. It wasn’t good enough.
But when I had the real deal, I was good for weeks and could get right back on track with my clean eating plan.
So my advice: Strive to become a picky eater. Only eat the foods you truly enjoy.
Even when it comes to your clean eating food, don’t force cottage cheese down your throat if you can’t stand it. Sure spinach is nutrient packed but if you’re gagging the whole time you are eating it, move on!
Your new healthy habits won’t last if you can’t stand what you are eating.
As women often times we never want to be called difficult, high maintenance, or picky.
But you know what?
When it comes to your nutrition and exercise plan I say let’s embrace it. It is not shameful to stand up for what you need to live the fit and healthy lifestyle you want to have.
Don’t be the average women who will just take whatever is given to you.
No!
When it comes to what you put in your body, be picky. I am, and proud of it!
