When a new person come in to try out BBC their eyes are immediately drawn to our super-star clients. The ones that can bang out toe push-ups and jump squats and make it look easy.
The new perspective client will often ask “did they come in fit?” “Have they always been small?” Then they say “Maybe this is too much for me….”
My answer to this is always the same; I tell them that with VERY few exception every one of those women came in totally out of shape. Totally. As in had to sit down so they wouldn’t throw up, sore for days, couldn’t run a mile…… totally out of shape.
So how did they go from being your typical 30-something, 40-something , 20-40+lbs overweight woman to well, an athlete AND looking pretty darn good?
And then they started again every day. And they continue to start every day. It wasn’t easy. Let me assure with very few exceptions (in fact I can only think of 2) they were not naturally athletic. They’ve hit plateaus, they’ve hit times when they’re motivation was low, but they still took that first step and chose to take those steps every day until they are where they are now……. Jaw droopingly great.
And these are women that are just like you; most are moms, work full-time, have spouses. The younger ones are building their careers and starting their families.
So this message is to do two things:
1). Say how proud I am of all you BBC super-stars and the healthy fit life you’ve created for yourselves
and
2). To encourage those of you out there that think that you could never be “that girl”; you know; the fit one that wakes up and goes to run a 5k before coffee on Saturday. Or that girl that takes the steps instead of the elevator and isn’t breathing hard at the top. The one that goes shopping and gets to pick what she likes, not just whatever she can that fits…… that girl. You can be it too. You just have to start.
